Veterans of the Yom Kippur War join UIA webinars

UIA is honoured to be hosting two veterans of the Yom Kippur War in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of this remarkable battle – Brig. Gen. Ret. Avigdor Kahalani and Major General (res.) Uzi Dayan-on two webinars on 19 September.

During the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Brig. Gen. Ret. Avigdor Kahalani commanded an Armored Battalion in the Valley of Tears on the Golan Heights on Israel’s Northern Border. Kahalani was awarded the IDF’s highest decoration for his courageous role – the Medal of Valor.

After Major General (res.) Uzi Dayan was inducted into the IDF in 1966, he fought in the Six-Day War, the War of Attrition (1969-1971) and the 1973 Yom Kippur War, where he was a company commander. He went on to serve as Israel’s national security advisor between 2000 and 2002, head of the IDF Planning Branch, head of Central Command and deputy chief of staff. After leaving active military service, Dayan served as a member of the Knesset, representing the Likud Party.

Avigdor Kahalani will join us as a guest on the regular Israel Update at 1.30pm AEST while Major General (res.) Uzi Dayan will join us for a special evening webinar at 7.30pm AEST.
