BJE’s Emet (SRE) students have learnt about Shavuot, the Hebrew word for ‘weeks’ commemorating the anniversary of the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai.
The New South Wales Board of Jewish Education has held is annual Leadership Seminar for Year 11 students who participated in last year’s Emet Israel Program.
BJE's popular adult Hebrew classes, taught by Sarah Friend, emphasise the development of modern Hebrew speaking skills to help those wishing to communicate with family in Israel, help their children with Hebrew, appreciate Jewish culture, provide easier access to Israeli media information and literature or, simply, improve their knowledge of the language.
Guest presenters are talking to children about their personal experiences in the Holocaust to give the children a better understanding of this period in Jewish history.
Former President of BJE, Michael Jassy, has been named an Honorary Life President for his contribution to the establishment and development of the Board of Jewish Education.
