Almond trees are blossoming, small buds are appearing on trees and the days are slowly getting longer.

This heralds the advent of Tu B’Shevat. Judaism is very much connected to the land and the cycles of the seasons. As trees and plants slowly awaken from their winter hibernation we marvel once again at how life returns to fields and agricultural crops.

After the events of 7 October 2023 it seemed that life in Israel had entered a long and bleak period. Despite heart wrenching loss and sacrifices the sprouting of hope and a better future slowly beckons.

This year’s Tu B’Shevat will hopefully herald a welcome spring.
