Tel Aviv University ranked No. 1 in Israel in the prestigious World University Rankings for 2027
Tel Aviv University has been ranked 208th globally as an institution and 29th worldwide in the Citations per Faculty indicator.

The university has achieved a significant distinction, ranking first among all Israeli universities in the prestigious QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Rankings for 2027, regarded as one of the world’s most influential and respected measures of academic excellence, QS evaluated more than 1,500 universities across the globe this year.
According to the rankings, TAU is 208th in the world, leading all academic institutions in Israel. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem was ranked 218th, while the Technion ranked 334th. Topping this year’s global rankings are MIT, Stanford University, and the University of Oxford.
Tel Aviv University’s performance was particularly notable in the Citations per Faculty indicator, where it ranked 29th in the world. This metric, which accounts for 20% of the overall QS score, is considered one of the key measures of research quality and international impact, reflecting the influence of the university researchers’ scientific publications on the global academic community.
The QS rankings are among the most prestigious and influential rankings in global higher education. Each year, QS evaluates 1,500 institutions worldwide and rates them according to teaching and research indicators, including citations, academic peer review, graduate employability, and internationalisation. The rankings are based on approximately 17.5 million academic papers and around 240,000 interviews with academics and employers.
