Yoni Netanyahu was killed in 1976 during the rescue mission following the capture of air passengers by Palestinian terrorists who commanded that the plane carrying them be diverted to Entebbe Airport in Uganda.

“Over the past year, we have launched two monumental operations: Operation Rising Lion and Operation Roaring Lion. We launched these operations to avert an immediate threat of annihilation looming over us by the regime of evil in Iran. Had we not acted, that regime would already possess atomic bombs, and they would have used them.

I pledge here at your grave, Yoni, and I pledge before you, citizens of Israel: the State of Israel will not be a fleeting episode in the history of our people. We are steadfast in protecting our vital interests.

We have achieved tremendous results, and we will not surrender them. We will remain in the security zone in southern Lebanon for as long as it takes in protect the residents of the North, who are dear to us, and the citizens of the entire country. As Prime Minister of Israel, I hold a firm stance on that which nothing will change.

And with regards to Iran: Whatever the diplomatic developments may be, I will not allow Iran to arm itself with nuclear weapons. As long as I am the Prime Minister of Israel, this will not happen. To this sacred goal, I have dedicated my life since you fell, Yoni.”
