Members of the Maccabiah leadership group have returned from Israel following meetings to plan this year’s Maccabiah scheduled for July.

Over 150 delegates from the Diaspora attended various presentations on all aspects of the Games.
Also attending were 60 young leaders from around the world who attended separate sessions on leadership development.
Head of Delegation Barry Smorgom said: “Jodi Valek, who is now on the NSW Maccabi Board. attended the program, and she is definitely a leader for the future.
The Organizing Committee is expecting 10,000 athletes to compete in what is the 3rd largest sporting event in the world
Smorgon added: “We are extremely excited as the Games will contain the full experience of sport and social events as past Games, as compared to the Olympics, where athletes had to leave within 48 hours of competing.
The Australian team currently comprises 560 people making it the third largest delegation, plus our new VIP group of 30, in addition to the anticipated 500 family & friends who will be in Israel to witness the Games.”
