The ever-popular biennial Yom Limmud Sydney will take place on Sunday, July 3, offering a program led by leading international and local presenters.

Yom Limmud offers the Sydney Jewish community a chance to hear from some of the top thinkers in the Jewish world today – from Swedish political advisor and writer Annika Henroth-Rothstein discussing Jews and the immigration crisis in Europe, to American journalist Jane Eisner’s take on the connection between American Jewry and the current presidential race.

In true Limmud style, much of the day will also be dedicated to discussing Israel and the Middle East.

This includes Canadian academic Mira Sucharov and Israeli journalist Haviv Rettig Gur offering their thoughts on the status quo and challenges of the peace process, while American-Israeli comedian Benji Lovitt will explore Israeli history with audiences through its comedy.

Local presenters will also offer sessions on matters social, political and religious, including Lynda Ben-Menashe (NSW Jewish Board of Deputies), Glen Falkenstein (Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council), Rabbi Benjamin Elton (The Great Synagogue), Alon Bar David (Hineni and The Central Synagogue) and Talya Wiseman (Moriah College).

“I strongly believe that through Limmud’s ability to encourage critical thought, and the innovative and dynamic nature of the program, we’re always able to offer something to new to the Jewish community,” said Yom Limmud Sydney chair Craig Shulman.

Yom Limmud is also proud to offer Young Limmud, a program for children aged 5 to 12 years, including arts and crafts, drama, and krav maga. There are two tracks for kids in years K-2 and years 3-6.

There are a variety of ticket types to suit each Limmud goer, including special prices for those attending their first Limmud, pensioners, families and students.

There is also a 20% discount for those who book for themselves and a friend for Yom Limmud.
