The Union for Progressive Judaism (UPJ) has announced the appointment of Lynn Niselow as its new Executive Manager, following the retirement of long-serving leader Jocelyn Robuck.

Lynn Niselow

Lynn Niselow brings with her more than 20 years of experience in Jewish communal leadership, having held senior roles including Executive Director of the Zionist Council of NSW and, most recently, General Manager of Sydney’s Great Synagogue.

“It is a privilege to join an organisation like the UPJ, which plays such a vital role both locally and across the broader Jewish world,” said Niselow. “I’m excited to work alongside the dedicated UPJ team and contribute to its important mission. Community engagement has always been at the heart of everything I do.”

The UPJ has also paid tribute to outgoing Executive Manager Jocelyn Robuck, who is stepping down after more than 16 years of service. Robuck’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening Progressive communities across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

“She has been a constant source of wisdom, warmth and professionalism,” the UPJ said in a statement. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jocelyn and wish her all the best in her well-earned retirement.”

Robuck will be formally farewelled at the UPJ Gathering of Presidents in November.

The UPJ says it looks forward to the next chapter under Niselow’s leadership and the continued growth of Progressive Judaism across the region.
