This is the second three year term for Dr Ratner who is president of Technion Australia in NSW and the first for Mr Hersh who is Honorary Treasurer of Technion Australia in NSW.

Dr Ratner was also appointed a permanent member of the Board’s Public Relations Committee which has responsibility for oversight of the public affairs activities of the Technion. This includes working with the various societies around the world and dealing with issues such as the BDS attempts to black ban the Technion.

“This is the first time in several decades that we have had two members on the International Board and reflects the growing importance of Australia to the Technion,” said Dr Ratner.

“Although I have visited the Technion before, this was my first Board of Governors’ Meeting and I was enthralled by the sheer magnitude and range of scientific, medical and technological advances made by Technion researchers and alumni,” said Mr Hersh.

“There is nothing like seeing a paraplegic walk again or a man with an inoperable brain tumour given three months to live still alive after five years to appreciate the contribution that this small university makes to the world,” he said.

Dr Ratner, Mr Hersh and Executive Director Ken Lander will be speaking on13 August, 2013 about the Technion’s most recent discoveries and applications – more information www.austechnion.com
