The human bones were found in a basement, thought to have resulted from a Jew hiding from German forces that destroyed the area during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in 1943.
At an emotional ceremony today in Warsaw, Israel's President Reuven Rivlin inaugurated the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, together with President of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski.
Given that half of the 6 million Jews who died in the Holocaust came from Poland, many descendants of Polish Jews may be surprised to learn about the current hospitable environment for the Jewish population of their ancestors’ country.
