  1. Bella Ceruza says:

I have two questions wrt to referendum:

    1. the question being asked is: “A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Do you approve this proposed alteration?”

This is totally vague resulting in an undefined ‘Voice’ that (including many other issues)
    – may / may not have power,
    – does not regulate to provide representation by all First Nations Australians,
    – does not include a treaty,
    – does not include wording that truly expresses recognition of the amazing longevity of First Nations’ link/ love/ unity with The Land.

In light of the vagueness of the referendum question, how will it guarantee benefits for the widespread Indigenous Community?

    2. In the current (pre Voice) situation what is the role of our indigenous Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and her ministry? Even without the Voice, we know of many issues that need addressing to benefit our First Nations folk….despite this ministry, little if anything seems to be improving – eg of the >330 recommendations of the 1991 RC into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody , most have not been implemented despite a lapse of 30 years.
Wouldn’t having an active ministry be a better way for imporving the situation for our First Nations Mob than spending money on establishing yet another organization?
