Remembering Rabin
“We will pursue the course of peace with determination and fortitude. We will not let up. We will not give in.” Yitzhak Rabin, Nobel Prize Lecture, 1994.
On Sunday 3 November, the Melbourne Jewish community is invited to commemorate 18 years since the tragic assassination of the late Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin Z”L.
The proceedings will include a short commemoration ceremony, screening of Noemi Schory’s “Rabin” from the series “The Generals” and a live link-up with Israel to hear testimony from a member of the Rabin family.
President of the Zionist Council of Victoria, Sam Tatarka said: “This year marks 18 years, chai shanim, since the shocking murder of Yitzhak Rabin. As Jews and as Australians, we still feel the pain of losing Israel’s Prime Minister under such tragic circumstances.”
“The Commemoration is an opportunity to unite as a community to honour the memory of Yitzhak Rabin, to learn about his achievements and to hear from a member of his immediate family.”
The event is jointly organised by the Zionist Council of Victoria, the Lamm Jewish Library of Australia, Haseret Film Club, Australian Friends of the Hebrew University (Vic), “Habayit” (the Home of Hebrew and Israeli Culture) and The Jewish Agency for Israel.
The community is encouraged to attend this milestone event. There is no cost for admission.
