The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies has hosted Ben Franklin, President of the NSW Legislative Council, on a tour through the Sydney Jewish Museum.

Ben Franklin with NSW Jewish Board of Deputies President, David Ossip.

Last year, Franklin spoke out against the boycott of the Sydney Festival, which was targeted for collaborating with the Israeli Embassy and showcasing a performance by Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin.
As NSW Minister for the Arts at the time, Franklin called out the boycott for silencing diverse voices at a great detriment to the artists and greater society.
The New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies has thanked Mr Franklin for being one of the few Parliamentarians to stand up against the boycott and for our Jewish community.
On Instagram, Ben Franklin posted: “The Sydney Jewish Museum plays a crucial role in sharing vital stories, ensuring the broader community is aware of the lives and stories of the Jewish community.

Our visit was deeply moving and incredibly educational, allowing us to delve into the rich history of Jewish people.

Speaking with Jack, a Holocaust survivor, was a touching experience. His story and resilient outlook on life are a testament to the strength and perseverance of the Jewish community.

A huge thank you to Sandy for being an exceptional tour guide. Special appreciation also goes out to David Ossip, the President of the @nswjbd, for organizing this enlightening tour and taking the time to join us 🙏”
