Charidy, the latest fundraising program to hit Australia, is working to create a transparent calendar of Charidy fundraising dates within Melbourne’s Jewish community.

“Since Charidy launched in the middle of 2016, we have witnessed our community’s incredible generosity to a wide array of communal causes”, said Peretz Schapiro, Managing Director at Charidy.

However, being part of a relatively small community does present its challenges, with many donors being solicited by multiple organisation, and often within a short time frame.

“With organisations planning for their second or third annual campaigns, we will look to consult with community groups to create a transparent calendar, in an effort to space out the Charidy fundraisers in the community. Ideally, this will ensure that organisations with very similar donor pools and/or causes aren’t running their campaigns at similar times of the year. Not only will this provide organisations with the knowledge that they aren’t directly competing with other organisations’ Charidy events, it will also give donors advanced knowledge as to which days of

the year their donation will be quadrupled towards their favourite community non-profits, enabling them to plan their giving accordingly”.

“We look forward to partnering with community groups in implementing the calendar. Ultimately, this will enable organisations to raise more money for the good work that they do, as they will have the confidence of running a fundraiser in a less competitive environment”.

Schapiro did point out, that there will be times in the year where there will naturally be more fundraising events. Namely, the May and June period towards the end of the financial year, and around the High Holydays season.

The Jewish Community Council of Victoria declined to comment.

Wealthy people’s hoard there wealth and relative to assets prefer mansions expensive cars and yachts and first class travel which is ok if the rest goes to the poor in the world .
