Our neighbours in Gaza spend all their time trying to devise new ways to cause murder and mayhem.

In contrast, Israelis spend all their time investing in new technology and trying to improve their lives while at the same time contributing to make this world a better place.

We may not be applauded by the UN & EU but that does not stop us from innovating.

ISRAEL INVADED BY MILLIONS OF MIGRATING VISITORS

Thanks to unusually large migration from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, more than 10 million butterflies crossed Israel on their way to Europe.

An annual migration of butterflies was unusually big this year, with some 10 million Vanessa cardui (also known as the cosmopolitan or the painted lady) crossing into Israel in recent days. The source of this unusually large migration is from the desert areas of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, which had an unusually rainy winter and lots of growth, which allowed the caterpillars to eat and prosper.

These butterflies will not survive to return to Israel, but their offspring will be back.

AID TO MOZAMBIQUE

Israeli humanitarian NGO IsraAID is dispatching an emergency response team to Mozambique after it was hit by the devastating Cyclone Idai, thought to be the worst ever disaster to strike the southern hemisphere, according to the United Nations.

IsraAID is set to distribute relief supplies, deliver psychological first aid and restore access to safe drinking water to affected communities in Mozambique. It will also assess the need for further aid.

In 2018, IsraAID emergency response teams reached 26,300 people worldwide, providing them with safe drinking water, psychological and community support and relief following natural disasters.

PRESIDENT OF MONTENEGRO RECEIVES SPECIAL GIFT

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin held a working meeting with President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, who is visiting Israel.

The theme of the President Đukanović’s visit to Israel is innovation and development and so at the end of the meeting, he was shown a special Israeli invention – a wheelchair developed at Alyn Hospital to aid children with limited physical mobility and to develop their range of free movement.

As part of the visit, dozens of these light wheelchairs have been presented to Montenegro as a gift from Israel, in order to improve the quality of life of children with disabilities.
