We are at the moment in the midst of the three-week period leading up to Tisha B’Av when Jews worldwide commemorate the destruction of the two Temples, exile and other associated catastrophes.

The Fast of the 9th Av occurs in Israel at the height of the summer heat, and this year the heat seems more intense than usual.

The day after sees a mass exodus of families travelling overseas for vacations with their children. Those who don’t manage an overseas holiday will be flocking to local beaches and parks.

It’s a time to relax (if possible) before the month-long series of chagim looming ahead.
