Europe and the UK may be melting in a summer heat wave but their hopelessly fossilised policies concerning Israel remain frozen in some type of time warp.
They are “shvitzing” in the EU but Israelis, long used to sizzling scenarios of a climatic and political nature, carry on regardless.
The Maccabiah continues with competitions in a myriad of sporting disciplines, with spectators crowding the various indoor and outdoor venues. Nothing is cancelled because of the heat, there is no mass hysteria, and rail lines are not buckling.
In other words, it is business as usual.
GOLD FOR ISRAEL
While the Maccabiah is taking place in Israel, elsewhere in the world, other Israeli sportspeople are competing and winning medals.
Rhythmic gymnastics is always a great spectacle. Watch as an Israeli competitor at the World Games in the USA performs and wins a gold medal.c
FURTHER PROOF
As more deniers of historical facts claim that Jews only arrived here in recent times and are therefore colonial settlers, Israeli archaeologists keep making discoveries that prove yet again that Jews were in fact living here long before the advent of either Christianity or Islam.
It is a pity that the media keep silent about this simple truth.
FIGHTING FIRES
It is summer time and the temperatures have soared.
Every year fires break out either as a result of careless campers or deliberate arson. Israel’s fire fighting teams now have aerial assistance and an array of equipment to deal with these conflagrations. However, some of these blazes occur in remote and inaccessible places and, if not tackled quickly, can rapidly spread, endangering forests, wildlife and houses.
Thankfully the latest addition will greatly assist our gallant firefighters in swiftly dealing with outbreaks in hitherto difficult terrain.
