Einfeld released on bail – passport confiscated

Former Federal Court judge Marcus Einfeld has been released on bail. The sentencing hearing will resume on March 20.Trial judge Brice James has ruled that Einfeld, who has pleaded guilty to perjury abd perverting the course of justice, was not allowed to leave Sydney’s Supreme Court until his passport had been surrendered.

Rejecting demands from the prosecution that Einfeld be remanded in custody, the judge ordered Einfeld to appear once a week at Waverley police station and that he was not allowed within 400 metres of an airport or any other recognised point of departure.
