The Executive Council of Australian Jewry and the Auckland Jewish Council have issued instructions on how to financially support those affected by last week’s earthquake in Christchurch.

Readers should note that some donations may not be tax deductible.

Stephen Goodman, president of the Auckland Jewish Council, said: “I am sure that you are well aware of the B’nei Akiva initiative organising an appeal for money to assist the Jewish Community in Christchurch.  This was an independent initiative of the youth leaders.  Their professionalism coupled with dedication and enthusiasm so impressed the New Zealand Jewish Council, and its affiliated member organisations, that they whole heartedly endorse this appeal and has adopted it as the primary funding raising approach for the Jewish Earthquake victims.  It is impressive to see our younger leaders working so hard for the Jewish community.  We are sure that this effort will not be wasted.”

Peter Wertheim, Executive Director of the ECAJ has pointed out that readers should be made aware that donations overseas may not be tax deductible.
