Canadian bid to buy Australian Kosher wine for Pesach instead of Israeli fails
Jewish dissidents urged Toronto’s Jews to boycott Israeli wines for Pesach and buy Kosher wines from Australia instead.
However, their bid failed dismally when a 600-strong pro-Israeli counter-boycott group took action buying up all available Israeli wine in the Summerhill district of the city. They were watched by the 12-member dissident group Not in Our Name who had planned an “Apartheid is Not Kosher” protest outside the LCBO store and who had urged Toronto’s Jews to leave the Israeli Pesach wines on the shelves and to buy instead Kosher wines stocked by the company from other countries, including Australia.
The liquor store told media that as a result of the anti-Israel boycott, they had sold every available bottle of Israeli wine including residual stock.
