Zionism Victoria President Yossi Goldfarb has thanked outgoing Premier Daniel Andrews for his steadfast support of both Israel and the community over his many years in office.

Yossi Goldfarb said: “From opening a Victorian Trade Office in Tel Aviv to adopting the IHRA Definition of Antisemitism, and from declaring his opposition to the ALP Conference’s push for Palestinian statehood to the deeply heartfelt addresses he always gave at Zionism Victoria’s annual Yom Ha’atzmaut reception, Daniel Andrews has been a steadfast friend of Israel and an unwavering supporter of the Zionist and Jewish community.

Just last year, he pledged $3 million to fight antisemitism, continuing an ongoing commitment to communal safety as evidenced by the $ 1 million his government put towards the security wall at Beth Weizmann. We thank the Premier wholeheartedly for the many years of solidarity he has demonstrated towards the Jewish State and with Jewish Victorians, and we wish him every success in his future endeavours.”

Zionism Victoria has extended a hearty mazal tov to Victoria’s new Premier Jacinta Allan.

Yossi Goldfarb commented: “Over the years, I’ve been privileged to work with Jacinta Allan and am fully confident that the intellect, passion and drive that I’ve witnessed firsthand will be a tremendous boon to Victoria.

In recent months, Zionism Victoria has met with Jacinta on a number of occasions to discuss issues of concern to the community and found her wholly receptive and keen to learn more. Indeed, we were delighted to host her at Beth Weizmann and the Lamm Jewish Library as recently as May.

She took a genuine interest in the work undertaken by all the communal organisations based on the site and particularly enjoyed the cup of coffee made by participants of Access Inc.

We very much look forward to welcoming her again, this time as Premier, and continuing our conversations about issues of interest to the community including Victoria’s relationship with Israel.”
