Video story: The children of October 7
“In the Endless Field Outside My Home” reflects the horrors of the October 7th events from the perspective of children affected by the tragedy.
These include Hamas captivity survivors, children of hostage families, those who lost family members, evacuees, and children who spent countless hours in bomb shelters.
The song was written in English and Hebrew and composed by Israeli singer-songwriter Keren Peles.
The music video was filmed at several locations in southern Israel, including the Gaza envelope. It features children who carry the trauma of October 7th:
– Emily Hand (9) from Be’eri: A released hostage, the only one kidnapped from her family. Freed after 50 days in captivity.
– Hila Rotem-Shoshani (14) from Be’eri: A released hostage. Kidnapped with her mother; they were the only mother-daughter pair separated during release. Freed after 50 days.
– Yael Yahalomi (11) from Nir Oz: Her father, Ohad, remains a hostage. Her brother, Erez, was released after 52 days. Yael, her mother, and sister escaped the terrorists during the October 7th attack.
– Maayan Cohen (15): Her uncle, Ohad Yahalomi, is a hostage, and her cousin, Erez, is a released hostage.
– Yuval Sharabi (18) from Be’eri: Her father, Yossi, was kidnapped along with her boyfriend, Ofir Engel. Yossi was murdered in captivity; Ofir was released after 54 days. Her father and uncle, Eli, remain in Gaza. Her aunt and two nieces were murdered.
– Adi Sharabi (15): Two uncles, Eli and Yossi, were kidnapped. One was murdered in captivity; the other remains a hostage. Her aunt and two nieces were murdered.
– Linoy Miller (17): Four relatives remain in captivity – father Yarden Bibas, mother Shiri Bibas, child Ariel, and baby Kfir, who are the last and only two children still held hostage.
– Tavor Margolis (8) and Miya Margolis (10) from Kissufim: Their father, Saar, a security officer, was killed on October 7th.
– Saar Avital (10) from Nir Oz: His uncle was killed on October 7th. Saar stayed in a safe room for 33 hours, partly alone watching his brothers while his father left to rescue other families.
– Orya Gulima (12) from Sderot: Her father, Shemuel, a policeman, was killed at Sderot Police Station on October 7th.
