The Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) strongly condemns the attack on a mosque in Israel and the subsequent attacks against both Jewish and Muslim targets.

JCCV President John Searle said: “The attack on the mosque in the village of Tuba Zangaria was carried out by a small group of thugs who, by their shameful actions, have placed themselves outside of mainstream Israeli and Jewish communities.”

“It is appropriate that so many Rabbis and other Jewish leaders around the world have expressed their outrage at the attacks, and have stated without reservation that such behaviour has no basis in Judaism.”

“I am pleased that Israeli police have already apprehended a suspect in last week’s attack, and hope that this will be of some comfort to our Muslim friends. As the only democracy in the Middle East, I am sure Israel will remain vigilant in rooting out those who engage in this vile behaviour.”

Searle added that he was similarly saddened following the attacks that took place upon Jacob’s Tomb and the cemeteries in Jaffa. He stated that “Jacob’s Tomb is known as one of the most sacred of Jewish sites and there is simply no place for this sort of senseless and racist attack. I express hope that the Palestinian Authorities will vigilantly investigate these crimes and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

Michael Burd, I fully agreed with you and my terms of Muslim Brotherhood and the Haloymes qualification refer to the oportune “fraternity” of spirit shown by those Muslim leaders displyed precisely when precipitated by the “necessity” to criticise Israel,as you alluded to.
It has been interesting to observe to impecable timing and promptness shown by all anti Israel segments in attacking their perennial target…..

Historically, Jewish civilian violence counts as the lowest, most insignificant general trait. Extremely rare cases have coincided with extraordinary increases in anti Semitism. It is important to retain that Judaism has always functioned as the most instrumental ethical “mechanism” in maintaining the wisest communal survival of a people constantly challenged through the highest forms of persecution. Significantly, Jews have refrained from retorts of the kind dished out to them. Consistent with pervasive anti Semitism, exceptions seen at Jews are bound to be inflated to levels of unanimity ! The current burning of one mosque is receiving hyperbolic attention, when one considers that in India mosques are being attacked, burnt , demolished on regular basis with only occasional whispers of “concern” from ALL quarters, including the islamic fraternity.

Otto, my piece was meant to be tongue in Cheek by sarcastically saying Jews are following the Moral standards of the Muslim community, yeh sure…

As far as I am aware the only time any leader or spokesperson from Australia’s Muslim community has ever endorsed the views of any Jewish organisation was this week when some Muslim Leaders endorsed controversal extremist left wing Organisation’s condemantion of Jews in israel.

{ or course I would condemn those Jews too ]

Gratefull to Burdie for prommoting the wellknown HMB “Haloymes Muslim Brotherhood “. Don’t get me wrong, the arson attack cannot be condoned as such, yet we are dealing at this stage with SUSPECTS only. If the evidence puts them in the dock we must, still, hold our fire and consider WHAT determined such unacceptable attacks. Thank G-d there were no victims. Can anyone, however, remember last time there were Jewish victims, say entire families wiped out, at the hands of anti settler locals, the ones enticed by the same Imams to follow the Koran in all its literary splendour !!

  4. Michael Burd says:

Its good to see the Jewish community leaders and Rabbis follow the moral standard of Muslim Community leaders Imams & Clerics and condemn the attacks by Jewish extremists against the Mosque.

After all don’t we always see and hear Islamic community representatives Imams & clerics continually publicly condemning their own extremists for attacks against Jewish targets in Israel , Europe, ST h America and abroad ??
