The Great Synagogue’s WOW ‘Women of Worth’
Sydney’s The Great Synagogue’s WOW ‘Women of Worth’ is back, and this must-do special day will be held on Sunday 12 March 2023.
The program is designed for Jewish women from all ages and walks of life, with inspiring speakers and a variety of interactive discussions and fun activities.
Aligning with International Women’s Day, the engaging theme around “Friendship, Fitness & Fun, Food, Finance, Fashion & Fearlessness, Family & Finding My Belonging” is designed to empower, educate, and energise women of all ages and stages and attract cross-generational, cross-communal and attendees of different levels of observance.
WOW is an initiative of the past Great Synagogue Vice President Caroline Lewis, and was developed in 2018 as part of The Great’s 140th-anniversary celebrations. It was so successful that it was ran again in 2019, but unfortunately has not run since due to COVID.
Caroline says, “Women of Worth brings together women from all ages and backgrounds into a shared full-day experience. We design the program to ‘WOW’ people, telling extraordinary stories from extraordinary people. The content is relatable, funny, and moving, with activities and engagement interspersed across the day. It’s the perfect day to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.”
The engaging program includes panels covering insightful topics such as Fashion & Fearlessness and Finding My Belonging, alongside informational sessions covering Financial Freedom and the Psychology of Friendship. And it’s not all serious – Miriam Waks is a performer who will explore feminism, spirituality, religion, technology and climate change through an engaging, fun musical performance.
The event is held at The Great Synagogue using multiple spaces throughout the day so that attendees can appreciate the entire heritage building. The day is fully catered with morning and afternoon tea as well as a delicious lunch with wine accompanied by live jazz music.
All women from across the Jewish community are invited to book and anyone who identifies as a woman or was assigned female at birth is warmly welcome to join us.
