Police act on the stolen Woollahra Council’s Israeli flag
Three people have been charged as investigations continue into the theft of an Israeli flag outside Woollahra Council in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
A police report details that at around 2pm on Christmas Day, “two vehicles stopped outside a building on New South Head Road, Double Bay, before the occupants got out, and a flag was torn from a flagpole.
The report continued: “Officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.
As part of inquiries, detectives attended a Stanmore home about 7.30pm the same day and spoke to a 27-year-old man, the registered owner of a Toyota Kluger.
He has since been issued a court attendance notice for the driver not disclosing the identity of the driver/passenger as required, unreasonably obstructing the path of the driver/pedestrian.”
Detectives attended a Dulwich Hill home the next day and spoke to a 37-year-old woman.
She has since been issued a court attendance notice for the driver not disclosing the identity of the driver/passenger as required.
They are both due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Monday 5 February 2024.
Following further inquiries, a 27-year-old woman was arrested at Hyde Park on Saturday (6 January 2024)
She was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with larceny.
The Croydon woman was granted conditional bail to appear at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday 13 February 2024.
As inquiries continue, investigators have now released CCTV of a woman who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The woman depicted is described as being of Asian or South American appearance, aged in her 20s, of medium build, and long dark hair.
She is shown wearing a camouflage print bikini top, white shorts, dark shoes and a pink head scarf.
