Israel has always been known as the country where volunteering is of prime importance.

Ever since its rebirth in 1948, Jews and non-Jews from all corners of the world have joined locals in helping to keep industries, businesses, schools, hospitals and kibbutzim operating successfully. In previous conflicts and wars, the spirit of volunteering has astounded even the experts.

During this latest war, the willingness of young and elderly Israelis to help out has been outstanding and a shining example to other countries. Planeloads of overseas volunteers have arrived to join their Israeli compatriots. They have helped to save many agricultural farms which would otherwise have lost their entire crops.

Whether in the military or civilian arena, the tireless efforts of all sectors of society have enabled the country to carry on with minimal disruption.
