On the other hand
Customer service in Israel has in the past been a rather patchy affair.
Thirty-one years ago, when we made aliyah, dealing with Government offices was an exercise in probable frustration.
Putting aside language difficulties, the main obstacles were staff who had no idea how to deal helpfully with the public and a lack of information as to what paperwork might be needed in order to facilitate a successful interview. Other obstacles, such as varying hours of receiving the public and one’s place in the queue, also made for a challenging exercise.
Today, thank goodness, the process is much easier and friendlier. Apart from the fact that payments, appointments and other details can all be done online it seems from our personal experience at least that most of those dealing with citizens face to face are more helpful and user-friendly.
Service in shops and utility providers has also markedly improved.
Competition certainly makes a difference.
SENSATIONAL DISCOVERY
The Judean desert has yielded up yet another amazing discovery, which has archaeologists and other experts very excited.
Sensational is the word being used to describe these latest findings.
Watch this video and see what all the euphoria is about.
COMING HOME
Enjoy and be inspired by this beautiful song and its message of return to our ancient homeland.
As we prepare to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and the pilgrim Festival of Sukkot, the sight of Jews arriving from their many countries of dispersion makes Biblical prophecies come to life before our very eyes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
For those born after 1967, the Six Day War is a forgotten relic of the past.
For those who today beat their breasts over the fact that we are settling Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem and the Golan this video should be compulsory viewing.
Forgetting the past and being seduced by revisionist history has become part and parcel of today’s progressive agenda.
