NSW Treasurer’s home daubed
On July 10, NSW State Treasurer Eric Roozendaal called on Coalition leaders to join Labour’s stand against the Australia First Party. Yesterday his home was daubed with “88” motifs…signifying HH which in turn signifies Heil Hitler.Australia First is headed in NSW by right-wing activist Jim Saleam. Founded by Graeme Campbell, the
Party’s policies include the abolishment of multi-culturism. Rozendaal has obtained a commitment from the ALP that Australia First will not benefit from ALP preferences.
Saleam has served time in jail for a shotgun attack on the ANC Sydney representative. He is also one of the founder members of National Action, the Australian version of the National Front.
Eric Roozendaal, who is Jewish, said: “This man and his party are an insult to those who fought Nazism and paid ther ultimate sacrifice. I have fought Mr Saleam and his repugnant views since my student days in the 1980s. One Nation got its foothold in Queensland due to Coalition preferences. This must not happen again.”
There has been no direct response from the Treasurer following the daubing attack on his Eastern Suburbs home but his spokesman told J-Wire: “This will not stop him speaking out against groups who preach hatred and division.”
Mr Saleam has denied any involvement by his group in the incident.
Police are investigating and a report has been filed with the New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies.
A spokesman for the NSWJBD said that local community security would maintain its normal watchful eye on communal activities.
