For the past few weeks MDA has been preparing to medically secure the 20th Maccabiah events that will begin with a festive ceremony at the Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem. Among other things, MDA, as Israel’s national rescue organisation, will medically secure all attendants and participants of the Maccabiah.

MDA’s medical security services already began with the preparations for the opening ceremony that started roughly a month ago, the peak will be registered this week with the opening ceremony which tens of thousands are expected to attend including athletes, VIPs and visitors from around the world.

The competitions, ceremonies and special events that will takes place during the 20th Maccabiah, will be medically secured by MDA EMTs and paramedics equipped with rescue vehicles and technologically advanced gear i.e. Club Cars, Medi-Cycles, ambulances, Mobile Intensive Care Units, 4X4 vehicles, Jeep-Ambulances and more. MDA helicopters will also be on standby. 400 rescue vehicles as well as over 1000 first aid providers, EMTs, paramedics and doctors will be deployed until the ending ceremony (July 17),

MDA’s National Command and Control Center has established a special command center that monitors and concentrates the activity of the teams medically securing the Maccabiah. During the events, MDA will put a special emphasis on competitions taking place outdoors such as triathlons, half marathons and bicycle races due to the especially hot weather. Competitors will be escorted by MDA Medi-Cycles and EMTs will be on standby in tents on the field.
