It is a testament to the high regard in which Julian is held that he won 97 of the 114 votes of the pre-selectors.  We have no doubt that he will be an excellent candidate who will bring erudition, compassion and a formidable intellect to public life. We wish him mazal tov and every success in this new and exciting challenge.   We also acknowledge the retirement of Philip Ruddock who has been a longstanding and sincere friend of the Australian Jewish community and of the ECAJ.

He has a background in law, government and public policy.
