Due to recent tragic events  in Jerusalem, the city’s mayor Nir Barkat has been forced to cancel his visit to Australia next week during which he was to address JNF’s gala functions in Melbourne and Sydney.

Mayor Barkat will, however, still make an appearance through a video link.

JNF CEO Dan Springer told J-Wire: ““Mayor Nir Barkat told me earlier in the year that the only thing that would stop him coming to Australia is a security issue. Sadly, that is what’s happened. It is with a heavy heart that he has cancelled his trip and calls us all to come to the JNF events in Sydney and Melbourne, in solidarity with Jerusalem and Israel during these very difficult times. Nir will address the audience via a live hook-up and provide an update on the current situation.”
