The Embassy of Israel closed its doors 8 years ago for budgetary reasons but has now re-opened its doors and is here to stay.

In his speech after the unveiling of the plaque Dr Smith said that he hoped the new diplomatic presence would boost the “trifling” trade between the nations. Last year, exports to Israel were about $30 million..

Ambassador Shemi Tzur called it a unique event, full of excitement.

The embassy will move in August to premises complying with security needs
