Sydney’s Montefiore is offering complimentary respite care for vulnerable older members of the community.

Care at the Monte

Montefiore is now able to offer two complimentary weeks of respite care at its Randwick, Woollahra and Hunters Hill Residential Care sites. There is no waiting period for an ACAT assessment, as the Department of Health has made emergency respite available to aged care consumers during the current crisis.

While the tide is turning in the fight against COVID-19, older people remain the most at risk to both the virus itself and the challenges of social and physical isolation.

CEO Robert Orie said: “Over the past two months we have continued to welcome new respite and permanent residents to our campuses and we have been hearing from people who have been struggling to manage at home in the face of isolation and the cancellation of many of their regular support and social programs.”

A respite stay offers the quality care and clinical support Montefiore is known for, a welcoming atmosphere, private ensuite rooms, varied leisure and lifestyle programs and delicious, freshly prepared meals.

There’s also added peace of mind thanks to the extensive precautions the Montefiore COVID-19 Management Team (MCMT) is taking to protect residential care sites. These include best practice infection prevention measures and staff training, health and temperature checks.

“Our new visiting program has also been a huge success thus far, allowing residents to maintain regular face to face contact with their loved ones in a safe environment,” added Robert Orie
