The NSW Bible Quiz comprised a written exam and oral “quiz” and was prepared by Dr Shira Bloch. Judges, Rabbi Shua Solomon from Mizrachi Synagogue and Rabbi Danny Yaffe from the Great Synagogue, were impressed by the level of knowledge shown by the participants and by their dedication.

Rabbi Solomon commented: “I was honored to be a part of the NSW State Bible Quiz and to host it in our shul. The Bible Quiz continues to impart knowledge of our most sacred book, the Tanach, to Jewish children which helps strengthen their connection to their people and their land. My thanks go to the Zionist Council of NSW for facilitating such a wonderful event.”

Rabbi Yaffe commented: “After being honoured to participate as a Judge in the Zionist Council Bible Quiz, there were a couple of points that have stuck with me:

Rivka Hirschowitz, Tari Sztokman and Doron Lewin

Firstly, the information required to take part in this section of the test was incredibly detailed and advanced. Obviously the boys and girls who took part from the beginning who did not make it through to this stage that I was involved in, were obviously ready for a challenge and that in itself is a point to be proud of. Yes, they didn’t get to the end, but they participated in an international quiz with very high standards.

The finalists, Tari Sztokman, Rivka Hirschowitz and Doron Lewin showed skill, knowledge and the ability to grasp and retain such a vast amount of information. These 3 have a very bright future. Kol Hakovod!”
The winner and runner-up of the National Bible Quiz Final will represent Australia in May 2016 at the International Bible Camp and Quiz.

The first place prize winner for the National Bible Quiz receives tickets to Israel to compete in the International Bible Contest and take part in a Tanah Camp where participants get the chance to explore different parts of Israel.

Second prize is the opportunity to compete in the International Bible Quiz and a place at Tanach camp.

The winner of the International Bible Contest wins a four year Scholarship to Bar Ilan University whilst the runner-up wins a scholarship to Mechon Lev in Jerusalem
