Many campuses also held welcome back events where returning students could sign up for AUJS in 2012.
All of the campuses had very successful sign-up rates and this will provide a “strong foundation for the entire year,” said AUJS Victoria President Yossi Reicher. A few campuses in Victoria already have more members than they have signed up in the entire 2011. “We were able to achieve these incredible results due to the passion, enthusiasm and dedication of student leaders at each of the campuses,” Reicher said. Students who would still like to sign up should visit http://www.aujs.com.au/get-involved.php to contact their campus executives.

AUJS Victoria, in collaboration with Next UIA hosted a
Super Heroes and Villains themed Purim party on Wednesday 7th March 2012. “At this year’s Purim party AUJS and Next UIA were thrilled to host close to 300 young Jewish students from across Victoria at a private venue in Fitzroy. There was a great turnout of people dressed up in all different costumes. There was a Megillah reading, distribution of mishloach manot and charity raised for the Kiryat Yearim Educational Village for Youth at Risk. There was also fun dancing had by all,” said Eli Oliver, AUJS Victoria Social Officer.

The next AUJS Victoria event will be O-Camp from March 23rd to March 25th 2012. To be held in Gippsland, O-Camp will provide university students from all around Victoria the opportunity to network and engage with other students and to strengthen their connection to – and involvement in – the Jewish community. Activities will include: trivia, ultimate frisbeey, battle of the campuses, as well as guest speakers, educational sessions and the Saturday night party. “This is an event not to be missed,” said Reicher. Students who would still like to register should visit http://www.tinyurl.com/o-camp12
