Broadcasting on Sydney radio station 2Day-FM, the bad boy of radio told his listeners today he did not mean to offend anyone by yesterday’s remark.

But NSW Jewish Board of Deputies CEO Vic Alhadeff has told J-Wire: “Concentration camps have caused the death of millions of people throughout history – in Cambodia, in Bosnia and of course, in the Holocaust. Events of such magnitude and inhumanity should never be trivialised.”

J-Wire is inviting Sandilands to tour the Holocaust section of  Sydney’s Jewish Museum. George Foster, president of the Australian Association of Holocaust Survivors and Descendants has agreed to be Sandilands guide. Foster told J-Wire: “The man cannot stop insulting people. I hesitate to think if he actually understands the full meaning of the Holocaust. I would be happy to guide him through the exhibition.”

Media reports state that Szubanski’s father was a Polish resistance fighter imprisoned by the Germans and how her grandmother had hid a Jewish woman and boy during WWII.

Szubanski, who has recently lost 25kg, told media that “to trivialise what happened to people in concentration camps is abhorrent”.

Sandilands and his radio co-jost Jackie O were suspended from broadcasting in July after airing a story about a 14-yr-old girl’s confession about having been raped.

We have the audio file but have had ro remove it from the web site as it has been jamming

  1. Daniel says:

I can’t stand the fact that there are so many Jewish communal leaders feeding the media spin. Get over it; he was more offensive to fat people than to Jews. The leaders of our community are so willing to take a stand on this but when it comes to important things like the future of Israel and the impending threat of Iran, Hezbollah and the like they sit on the assess and say nothing.

Don’t get me wrong I am all about Holocaust education, remembrance and fighting anti-Semitism and racism but come on.

I am a grandchild of four survivors, and a person that has been involved in the community for many years, and my opinion is that we deserve more from our leaders!
