Melton starts in NSW next week in conjunction with the University of Sydney…and it is not too late to participate in a course…

Melton is now offered in 10 – 15 week blocks with 3 new classes starting next week.  It is offered through the Department of Hebrew, Biblical and Jewish Studies at the University of Sydney in conjunction with the Centre for Continuing Education.

An exciting new graduate course Jewish Denominations: Addressing the Challenges of Modernity will be taught by Dr Avril Alba at the Sydney Jewish Museum on Wednesday mornings from 11.15 am – 12.15pm. The course examines Jewish identity and religious expression against the backdrop of dramatic political and social change over the past 300 years.

Former Melton graduates are encouraged to return to their Melton studies and enrol for this course which is being offered for the first time in Sydney.

Dramas: The History of the Jewish People  is an overview of Jewish history. Topics include Exile and Return, The Golden Age of Spain, Medieval Ashkenaz, Enlightenment and Emancipation and Zionism.

This course will be  will be taught at:

North Shore Synagogue with  Dr Michael Abrahams-Sprod and Simon Holloway on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 – 9.45pm.

and at

Beth WIZO, Woollahra with Simon Holloway and Anat Shechter-Vidor on Thursday mornings from 10am – 12.15pm.
