Victorian Rabbis’ Rosh Hashanah Message
With the approach of the Yomim Noraim (Days of Awe), it is timely to reflect upon the year gone by and to plan for the year ahead.
This year the call of the shofar in our shuls (Synagogues) will bring with it a familiar aura of solemnity, and a simultaneous sense of triumphant confidence for all that we can and, with G-d’s help, will achieve in the year ahead.
As we enter the year 5774 from Creation, let us resolve to work together in unity and harmony to bring credit and honour to our community and to G-d. Let us resolve to live and lead by example in all that we do, in being “a light unto the nations” and indeed to ourselves.
Our community has not been immune from the tragedy of child sexual abuse. In the coming year and beyond, let us resolve to re-double our efforts to remove this scourge and ensure that our children are safe and protected.
May it be the Will of the Almighty that this year brings health, livelihood, longevity, happiness, honour and togetherness. And most importantly that we merit the ultimate blessing with the coming of Moshiach, in our lifetime, and in the lifetime of our children, speedily on our days.
With blessings and best wishes that we all be inscribed and sealed in the book of good life.
