The Government has relented to calls from the Coalition opposition to reopen the scheme following its closure eight months ago.

Shadow Minister for Innovation David Southwick called on Premier Daniel Andrews to reinstate and support the former Coalition Government’s VISITS program in an adjournment made in the Victorian Parliament in April. As a result, the Premier today confirmed it is now the Government’s intention to renew VISITS.

David Southwick said: “I am pleased after 8 months of inaction and incompetence by the now-sacked Innovation Minister, Labor has relented to the Coalition’s call to reopen and support the VISITS program.

It is important that there is bipartisan support for the VISITS program to build on the former Coalition Government’s progress.

“VISITS supports jobs, innovation and trade – let’s hope the next Innovation Minister gets the memo.”
