Unravelled and unhinged
This year was always going to be filled with drama, but the current phenomena of unhinged reactions and unravelling agendas must win first prize.

It is always a given that anything to do with Israel, Zionists and Jews will inevitably attract an increasing cohort of bitter, frustrated and politically poisonous people. This has been the norm over many years, but the slide into irrational incitement and embrace of ancient fables, together with old recycled libels, is accelerating at an alarming speed.
Look at the reaction by some groups in Australia to the impending visit of Israel’s President Herzog.
One week before his scheduled arrival, the baying mobs have already made their intentions perfectly clear.
As reported by the Australian Associated Press, a protest demonstration took place outside Victoria’s State Library. Shouting, inciting slogans, and waving the usual banal banners, these members of the enlightened classes paraded their prejudices for all to see and hear.
A former Islamic Council of Victoria Executive Board member claimed that they had a responsibility to “shut Melbourne down.” The intention to cause mayhem and chaos, and the propagating of hate and incitement during Herzog’s visit, is a direct challenge to both State and Federal authorities.
Scott Morrison, a former Australian Prime Minister, has been severely criticised for recommending at a conference on antisemitism held recently in Jerusalem that Islamic preachers and spokespersons should be held accountable for their rhetoric.
It will be interesting to see what, if any meaningful action, is forthcoming to the well-advertised intentions of the anti-Israel groups to cause paralysis in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Will it be recitations of more slogans about “social cohesion” and the usual rote repetition of meaningless mantras?
Will law enforcement authorities be allowed to do their job and detain, arrest and prosecute those mouthing hateful incitement?
Will jihadist terror rhetoric be swept under the carpet?
Will those who shout “globalise the intifada, death to the IDF and from the river to the sea” be prosecuted or merely slapped on the wrist?
Will Jews be cautioned to avoid provocative gatherings in case it offends those unhinged demonstrators who are pledged to cause chaos?
Will the planned mass protests inhibit and prevent Australia’s Jews and non-Jewish supporters of Israel from gathering to show solidarity with Israel’s President?
What transpires will be an indication of whether the lessons of Bondi have been learnt or whether the political reaction is more of the same shameful charade.
Unhinged behaviour is not, of course, confined to any particular continent. It has spread like a virulent rash to all corners of the globe.
Erdogan of Turkey has declared that Israel is its main threat and enemy. Trump believes that the aspiring latter-day Ottoman sultan is one of his best friends. With friends like that, who needs enemies?
Tertiary education and qualifications are no guarantee of common sense and elevated intelligence. The Oxford Union declared that “Israel is a greater threat to regional stability than Iran.” Back in the 1930s, this same body of self-appointed elites passed a motion that they would not “fight for King and country” against the rapidly rising threat of a Nazi world order.
These cheer leaders of appeasement for fascist fanaticism, it seems, have now morphed into cheer leaders for Islamic jihadist fanaticism.
How unhinged can one get?
Meanwhile, back in Londonstan, the delusional British Government, after having recognised a fake Palestine, followed up their delusional decision by hosting an opening ceremony for its embassy. This must be the first time that a diplomatic office has been inaugurated that represents a non-existent entity with no borders or democratic governance. Reality, of course, has nothing to do with UK Government decisions, which these days depend more on appeasing radical groups than actually tackling looming threats.
That explains why, despite a belated EU decision to designate the Iranian RGC as terrorists, the UK Labour Government refuses to follow suit. A decision will be left until the end of 2026 in a transparent move to placate an increasing number of leftist anti-Israel members.
As the Germans would have exclaimed, this is unglaublich (unbelievable).
In a sign that “chickens are coming home to roost”, the UN Secretary General has warned that the organisation is in imminent danger of financial collapse. He blames the Trump Administration but omits to actually disclose which countries are in default of their membership payments.
The UN was established to prevent wars and safeguard the interests of smaller countries from the predatory ambitions of others. Its original intentions were to preserve democratic values and save the world from another conflagration.
Unfortunately, the UN and its ancillary offshoots have now been subverted by nations whose guiding principles are light-years away from the founding charter. A majority of members are not democratic and certainly not sponsors of human rights. In fact, the whole rotten edifice is infected with an incurable malaise which manifests itself primarily in denigrating, condemning and delegitimising the sole Jewish sovereign nation.
There would be very few Israelis who would shed any tears over the United Nations parlous financial situation and its inevitable unravelling. In fact, most would be surprised that it has taken this long for reality to hit home.
Another case of unravelling revolves around the alarming decrease in awareness about the Shoah.
A recent UNESCO survey disclosed high levels of antisemitism in three-quarters of EU classrooms. Given the escalating demographic changes taking place in a large number of European countries, the outlook for Jews on that continent is increasingly bleak and precarious.
When one also takes into consideration a gaping chasm in knowledge about what happened to Jews during the Shoah years among young people in the USA, UK and elsewhere one has to question where this will lead. We can already witness how disturbing ignorance gaps facilitate the poisoning of young minds and sow the seeds for the same old libels to germinate and flourish.
The South African Government has expelled Israel’s diplomatic representative, which in turn caused Israel to reciprocate. How long will it take for the remaining Jews in South Africa to realise that this unravelling will not end well for them?
In the USA, the Democratic Party is unravelling at a fast rate and soon will be controlled by Israel/Zionist hating voters. Concurrently, the Republican Party is being infected by classic extreme right-wing Jew hate, which, with a combination of isolationist ideology, will dilute any sympathy for Israel.
With both political parties steadily succumbing to the ancient virus, a conundrum long ignored will raise its ugly head.
If both left and right decide that Jews no longer have any electoral value and can easily be replaced by a more numerous demographic sector, where will this leave the mass of American Jews? Will the message resonate in time, or as so often has happened in the past, will it all unravel with fatal results?
These are not theoretical scenarios. They are happening in real time.
