sraeli civil rights group, Shurat HaDin, has filed a class action complaint under the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 with the Australian Human Rights Commission over a Sydney professor's participation and public support of boycotts of Israel including an academic boycott of Israeli universities.

A Tel Aviv-based civil rights group warned Australian supporters of a proposed boycott against Israel on Thursday that their activities were racist, and in violation of Australian Federal anti-discrimination laws. Recently, faculty and students at Sydney University called for the severing of links with Israeli institutions.

World Vision Rejects Shurat HaDin’s Allegations

The Israeli NGO Shurat HaDin (Israel Law Centre) first wrote to World Vision Australia (WVA) in February 2012 claiming that our AusAID-funded agricultural development project with the Palestinian organisation - the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC) – violated Australian and US counter-terrorism legislation because, they claimed, UAWC is an arm of the proscribed terrorist organisation the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
