Sydney Yeshiva buys Betar building

The Sydney Yeshiva Centre today bought the Betar building in Old South Head Rd.Rabbi Pinchus Feldman told J-Wire: “We are bursting at the seams and the new building will give us scope for growth…and for the future.”

He said plans for the building included a Chabad House for Israelis and an Israeli synagogue. He added: “We also plan to use it for pre-school and Yeshiva outreach activities.”

    Betar was compelled by the State Zionist Council to sell the building at a pretty unfortunate time in the property market.

    Yeshiva have now bought it.

    The winners: Real Estate Agents and the Office of State Revenue.

    The losers: Our community. The building will stand as a monument to the inability for this community to pool resources.
