A passerby tweeted a photo of a basketball court in the New Zealand city of Hamilton daubed with swastikas on the day icon basketballer Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash and the day before the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Jeff Howell also tweeted: “This appeared on a Hamilton playground in the weekend. Anti-semitism is alive & well – and its home is on the far right of politics.”

Spokesperson for the New Zealand Jewish Council Juliet Moses told media: ” “It does seem to be a growing trend and if you look at what’s happening overseas in the US and the UK it’s consistent with that trend. “We have seen the very real consequences of that ideology here in New Zealand.”
