One in six males will experience sexual abuse before they are 18. The Brisbane Jewish community will hear how it can offer support to victims.

10 community organisations are combining to promote a communal discussion on Male Sexual Abuse in the community and what can be done to help the survivors.

The majority of the organisations seized the opportunity to bring this subject into the open and discuss the ramifications of male sexual abuse.

Dr Gary Forster of Living Well www.livingwell.org.au will give a talk on abuse and it’s effects. Followed by a screening of the DVD “Back on Track”; an Australian production on Male Survivors and their stories.

Rounding out the evening will be a Q&A moderated by Andrea Bowden Principal of Sinai College with Dr Foster and Ari Heber from QJCS Inc and MARS (Male Affected by Rape and Sexual Abuse). A support group for male survivors based in Brisbane.

The subject issensitive because many of the victims cannot share their secret as the abuse emanated from those they trusted, including family.
