There is no more ‘Adamama-ish’ Festival than the harvest festival of Succot.

Shalom and Adamama are thrilled to welcome the community into our succah at the Adamama Farm in Sydney, known as the Randwick Sustainability Hub.

Adamawa is Australia’s first-ever Educational Urban Farm, inspired by Jewish values of healing the world and nurturing community.

Over the week of Succot (9-16 October) SuccahFest will feature fun, informative and unique events from seasonal floral design to kids craft, guided meditation and more. There is something for every age group, from babies to kids, families, and adults, with free and ticketed events.

The mitzvah of “Hachnasat Orchim”  (welcoming guests) is especially important to Adamama and Shalom and a cornerstone of Succot. As Shalom’s Director of Programs, Rabbi Alon Meltzer said:

“Shalom offers an opportunity to bring a new lens to rituals and Jewish engagement in order to create relevancy for the modern Jew. Our Succah by the Sea in 2019 and now Adamama’s SuccahFest, nurture openness in ourselves and our communal spaces.”

Adamama has hosted SuccahFest for the last two years, with hundreds of attendees spending time in its temporary home. In 2020 we saw 405 people in our succah, hosting 10 events for schools, community groups and the broader public. Even during lockdown in 2021, we hosted over 30 individual picnics with 150 people, allowing us to achieve our goal of connecting people in its succah even when faced with limitations.

SuccahFest 2023, in the spirit of Adamama hospitality, promises to continue to be a stand-out event on the community calendar.
