Former Sydneysider Shuli Briggs will make history when she boards El Al’s inaugural commercial Israel-Dubai flight today with husband Ari and three of her five sons.

Shuli Briggs

40 years ago as a young child she was a passenger on the inaugural commercial El Al flight from Israel to Cairo on 3 March 1980 with her parents and three other siblings.

Today Shuli lives in Ra’anana with husband Ari.  Both attended Moriah College and were active in Betar during their teenage years and completed their tertiary studies in Sydney.

The Jews wandered in the desert for 40 years – and Shuli has waited that long since her Cairo visit for her dream to be realised once again.

The Briggs made Aliyah in the early 90s. They will holiday in Dubai for six days.

Well done Shuli. Arguably you are the only person on the planet with that claim to fame.
