Two members of The Australasian Union of Jewish Students have won worldwide awards.

Rebecca Hartzman

Perth-based Rebecca Hartzman and Josh Kirsh from Sydney did not attend the Jerusalem  World Union of Jewish Students Congress in Jerusalem where last year AUJS won Campaign of the Year for its International Holocaust Remembrance Day definition campaign.

Josh Kirsh was acclaimed as Political Activist of the Year and Rebecca received her award for running the Local Jewish Students Association of the Year.

Josh Kirsh told J-Wire: “This year has been a busy one for AUJS in political affairs – and I am so honoured that that work has been recognised by WUJS. Throughout this year – against the backdrop of a federal election and student union elections across Australasia – we have spoken clearly and with one voice on behalf of Jewish students. I’m so proud of our political work in 2019 and excited to assist the public affairs team in 2020.”

Rebecca Hartzman added: “It’s lovely to receive this award and bring some attention to little old Perth. It was both a challenging and exciting year bringing fresh life into AUJS WA. I am looking forward to seeing the future of AUJS as a vibrant organisation in WA, and I know that the next leadership team will do an amazing job!”
