Rabbi Dovid Slavin was surprised to have been selected to join Amir Salem on the dias following the invitation to event which was spearheaded by Greece’s Consul-General in Sydney Dr Stavros Kyrimis. The consulate was celebrating the 90th anniversary of its presence in Sydney.

Our Big Kitchen’s Rabbi Slavin told J-Wire: “I was both surprised and delighted to have been chosen for this honour. NSW Premier Mike Baird was present and I explained to him that his name was derived from the Greek name Michalis but that that in turn was derived from the Hebrew name Mikha’el a rhetorical question meaning ‘Who is like God'”

He added that Our Big Kitchen enjoys substantial support from the Greek community.
