The entertainment/lifestyle portal Dunera broke new ground when its two-hour production “To Melbourne with Love” attracted over 6500 viewers to its platform.

The COVID-inspired initiative was is the brainchild of Sydney’s Daniel Grynberg who worked with a strong board under the auspices of the Emanuel Synagogue to launch Dunera in May to provide entertainment and leisure programs aimed at all members of the Jewish community whose activities have been curtailed due to the Coronavirus.

Grynberg, aware of the strict restrictions being imposed on the Melbourne community dreamed up a special show to reach out to his fellow Australians in the Victorian capital.

Within a fortnight a galaxy of talented performers had offered their services free of charge and the advance publicity produced over 6,500 viewers shortly after Shabbat concluded last Saturday night.

Board members actor and publicist Geoff Sirmai and songsmith Ilan Kidron, who also M.C.’d the show, searched far and wide to find the talent and the show was produced within 14 days.

Dunera Project Manager Sarita Gold told J-Wire: “The success of the show has meant a large number of new subscribers to Dunera and it is also satisfying to get so many from interstate. We even found new followers from overseas including some from as far away as Berlin.”

The production ended with an outstanding of Kol Nidre by Isser Feiglin,  the cantor of the Mizrachi synagogue.

In the meantime, Dunera continues to produce content every week and welcomes ideas from anywhere.
