Pratt: Rush on to clear his name
An emergency court hearing is underway as a Federal Court judge considers evidence which could clear Dick Pratt’s name as he approaches death.Judge Donnell Ryan has told media he would consider if a final decision could be made over the weekend. Pratt’s lawyer had told the court that whereas his client did not seek the termination of the case against him for having given false and misleading evidence during an Australian Competition and Consumer Commission in 2005 with relation to the cartel between Pratt’s company Visyboard and main competitor Amcor, he was seeking a quick decision on the evidence so far presented.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd paid a short visit to Pratt’s bedside on Friday.
